This festival, which I curated alongside collaborators Wesley Goatley and Emma Harrison, offered a weekend of free public events that explored oblique representations of machine learning systems through a set of participatory and hands-on engagements that demystified myths of technological progress. Our programme of workshops, talks, artworks and a ghost tour was focused on broadening public access to discussions about the impacts of digital technologies, including a tour, Machine Ghosts of Brighton, which invited 50 participants to explore hidden algorithmic entities across the city. Guest speakers and artists of the festival included Ruth Catlow, Ramon Amaro, Henry Cooke and Natalie D Kane. This festival was made possible with the support of the Sussex Humanities Lab.
